New day of blockages for taxis in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region mobilized en masse in Lyon and the agglomeration since Monday, December 2, 2024. After a first day of dams and snail operations on the highways around Lyon, at the entrances to hospital establishments and Place Bellecour, the system will be similar this Tuesday, December 3.

Blockages, in the same places as the day before, will be put in place in the urban area and around the metropolis from 6 a.m. this Tuesday morning as well as in front of Lyon hospitals.

They are protesting against the new CNAM (National Health Insurance Fund) agreement concerning medical transport, which they consider “unsustainable”.

More than 1,500 taxis mobilized Monday

Abdel Green, president of the Federation of Independent Taxis of the Rhône (FTI69) assured AFP on Monday evening that “the day went well, no altercation. We made as many people aware as possible.” “This evening, as planned, we are bivouacing on Place Bellecour, and we are going to see (…) if we sleep there, or if we put an end to the movement. It will depend on the vote of the demonstrators.”

According to him, more than 1,500 taxis participated throughout the day in blockages or slowdowns at several access points in the Lyon metropolitan area.
