Marine Le Pen indicated Monday that she had “filed an amendment on the renunciation of the deindexation of pensions” in the Social Security financing bill, the adoption of which would lead her RN group to renounce voting for a motion of censure against Michel Barnier.
No reimbursement of medicines in 2025
“It is up to the government to accept it or not to accept it,” continued the leader of the far-right deputies after a meeting of her troops, shortly before the start of the examination of the text by the National Assembly. “Michel Barnier did not wish to respond to the request of the 11 million voters of the National Rally”, “he said that everyone assumes their responsibilities, we will therefore assume ours”, declared the head of this group, Marine Le Pen, to the press.
Over the past week, the government has increased its concessions to the far-right party, whether on electricity taxes or on State medical aid. Michel Barnier had acceded on Monday, December 2 to one of the RN's requests on the PLFSS, by committing that there would be no delisting of medicines in 2025, but the far-right party wanted that he also renounces the deindexation of pensions.
In the morning, Michel Barnier spoke on the telephone with Marine Le Pen, then announced in a press release a new gesture in her direction, committing “that there will be no delisting of medicines” in 2025, when the government had planned to reduce the reimbursement rate by 5%.
But for Ms. Le Pen, the score was still not there. Arriving at the Assembly in the afternoon, just before a crucial session, she reaffirmed that she was asking the head of government to renounce the partial deindexation of pensions if he wanted to escape censure. This Monday, December 2, Michel Barnier triggered the government's responsibility with 49.3 for the Social Security budget, while the RN announced that it would vote on the NFP's motion of censure.
