This is a major subject for a department where 20% of the territory is located in flood zone. In Choisy-le-Roi (Val-de-), the works of Pompadour quay – flooded during the last flood dating from 2016 – ended on Thursday November 28, 2024. The work lasted since 2021.

An investment of more than 4 million euros

Over time, cracks and splinters of concrete appeared on the 1936 structure. Its joints also appeared weakened. Which ended up pushing the Department to secure this 350 meter length anti-flood wall and riprap, as well as the 640 meters of low promenade.

This project, the first phases of which began in 2021, will have cost nearly 4.7 million eurosfinanced 40% by the State, 40% by the Métropole du Grand Paris and 20% by the Department. The rehabilitation was also an opportunity to rethink the revegetation of the quayby replacing diseased trees, in particular.

More generally, this project is part of the Department's flood risk management policy. In 2023, it voted for a budget of 10 million euros over five yearsdedicated to the maintenance of 30 kilometers flood protection structures, built after the 100-year flood of 1910 and the 50-year flood of 1924, and the banks of the Seine and the Marne.
