Murder of Nicolas Audet in Beauce: an important witness who recently died

The murder of Nicolas Audet, an apparently uneventful trucker from Saint-Isidore, in Beauce, may not be completely elucidated with the death of an important witness in this case.

Nearly three years after the homicide, his former partner Jacqueline Beaudoin-McClintock was injured when she left the road on November 15, on Route 175.

The accident occurred around 9:30 p.m., at kilometer 131, near Lac Jacques-Cartier. She was alone on board. His life did not initially appear to be in danger, according to police, but his state of health subsequently deteriorated.

The 35-year-old woman died two days later at the Enfant-Jésus Hospital in Quebec. A coroner is expected to conduct an investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy.

“I am heartbroken. I will miss you,” wrote a relative to announce the death.

Long investigation

On February 14, 2022, Audet, 41, was murdered in his residence. The truck driver did not show up for work and his body was later found.

The man, without any criminal history, was employed by Équipements d'érablière CDL, a company located in Saint-Lazare-de-Bellechasse.

A command post was deployed near his home on President Kennedy Road and the public's help was requested.

The Sûreté du Québec initially described the death as a “violent death” before the murder hypothesis was confirmed.

Shortly after, Jacqueline Beaudoin-McClintock, the trucker's ex-wife, fled with an accomplice to Ontario. A wanted notice had been distributed throughout the country.

On the run

A contingent of armed police cut short his escape in Hagar, Ontario, 24 hours after his escape was publicized. Mme Beaudoin-McClintock had traveled a little more than 950 km before being located in a motel. A man from Beauce was also accused in connection with this leak.

At the time, Jacqueline Beaudoin-McClintock was considered an important witness.

The Sûreté du Québec limits itself to saying that the investigation is still active. The motive remains a mystery. No murder charges have been filed since February 2022. The coroner's report in relation to this death has not been produced to date.

The victim is survived by a young child. The latter had already lost his father during the crime.

His funeral will take place in Saint-Georges in December.
