Huge plumes of smoke visible from the A15 motorway which worried many motorists and triggered multiple calls to 18. This Sunday shortly after noon, an impressive fire broke out in a former equestrian center along the road to Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, located in the town of -sur-Seine. A site, called “Le sabot d’or”, which no longer accommodated an equine but on which a family still lives. Fortunately, she was safe and sound, her four members having been able to evacuate the pavilion in which she resided nearby before emergency services arrived on site.

The municipality also reassured its citizens as soon as possible with a message posted on its Facebook page. “No victims and no animals on site”, we can read.

The intensity of the disaster affecting this vast building complex of more than 400 m2, the origin of which remained unknown for the time being, required a significant deployment of resources from the Val-d'Oise fire brigade. More than 70 firefighters were still on site this Sunday evening, with five water hoses and no less than a dozen devices. If the damage remains to be seen, “a very large part” of the site would have burned according to the town of Herblay.

The location being isolated, the fire nevertheless presented no risk of spreading to the surrounding area. Special precautionary measures were nevertheless taken for the professionals involved due to the presence of fiber cement sheets that could potentially contain asbestos.

Last week, a mansion was completely destroyed by flames in Maffliers. The fire broke out while the owner was shopping. There too, the smoke could have been visible from the motorway, the nearby A 16.
