GP du Qatar: Verstappen gagne

The Dutchman was 6''031 ahead of Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), 2nd. Eighth, Zhou Guanyu gives the Sauber-Ferrari team its first four points of the season.

Guaranteed to win the title for a week, Max Verstappen led this race from start to finish to collect his 63rd Grand Prix success, the 9th of the season. Third, Oscar Piastri (McLaren) lost 6”819, while 4th George Russell (Mercedes) crossed the finish line more than 14 seconds behind.

Sauber-Ferrari will therefore not experience the agonies of a white season. After coming within a tenth of a second of a place in the third part of qualifying on Saturday (top 10), the Chinese Zhou Guanyu mastered his subject on Sunday to snatch 8th place in the Qatari GP.

His teammate Valtteri Bottas finished 11th. The Finn was a “victim” of the crazy chase led by Lando Norris, penalized by 10 seconds and forced to return to the pits while he was in 2nd place. Norris finished 10th, ahead of Bottas by more than 14”.

21 points difference

Norris' misfortune should not prevent McLaren from winning its first constructors' title since 1998. The British team, which scored a double on Saturday in Qatar in the sprint race (Piastri ahead of Norris), keeps its hand in its fight with Ferrari . The Scuderia is 21 lengths behind before the Abu Dhabi GP scheduled for next Sunday.
