Algeria: The euro and the dollar decline on the black market

The euro fell slightly against the Algerian dinar on the black currency market last weekend. Indeed, the 100 euro note was worth on Friday November 29 a sum ranging from 25,600 DA to 25,700 DA, and this, on sale, that is to say the sales rate of currency traders to individuals.

Regarding the purchase, the same ticket was purchased by currency traders for a sum ranging from 24,300 DA to 25,400 DA. Thursday, November 28, the quotation was 100 euros for 25,800 DA for purchase by clients and 100 euros for 25,500 DA for purchase for currency traders.

This slight drop can be explained, according to a currency trader, by a slight decline in demand for the euro in recent days. A logical step back due to the uncertainty that hangs over the application of the new measure of the Bank of Algeria relating to the terms of export of currency abroad by resident and non-resident Algerian travelers.

The announcement of this measure caused the euro to fall from 280 DA for one euro on November 22 to one euro for 251 DA on Sunday, November 24.

The decline also concerns the US dollar. He recorded this Sunday 1is December a slight decline on the black currency market. It goes from 100 USD dollars for 24,600 DA to purchase to 100 USD dollars against 24,500 DA.

Asked about market developments over the coming days and weeks, our contact prefers not to give projections. ''We are in a phase of uncertainty. We cannot know how the market which depends on the law of supply and demand will evolve,'' he said.
