Make way for the 8th round of the French Football Cup this weekend with a poster that is exotic to say the least. The Still-Mutzig club won at home 4-1 against the Guadeloupean club Jeunesse Evolution FC Les Abymes, Saturday November 30, at the Roger-Leissner stadium in Mutzig.

A ticket for the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France is what the Still-Mutzig footballers have just won. The Alsatians beat the Guadeloupeans of Jeunesse Evolution FC Les Abymes, 4 goals to 1, this Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Roger-Leissner stadium in Mutzig. To find out Still-Mutzig's next opponent, you will have to wait for the draw which takes place on Monday December 2. Note that from the round of 32, Ligue 1 teams enter the competition.
To qualify for the round of 32 of the Coupe de France football, the players of Still-Mutzig were able to count on the experience of their coach, Jacky Duguépéroux. A figure in Alsatian football, he left his mark as a coach of Racing Club de Strasbourg, taking the team to victory in the Coupe de la Ligue in 2005.
The Alsatian players also had the advantage of playing at home and in weather conditions that they know well. Barely 5 degrees this Saturday at kickoff. A cold which did not benefit the Guadeloupean team.
“They’re going to be shaken up a bit by the weather,” joked Denis Hildenbrand, club president of the Still-Mutzig Association (ASM), before the meeting. “They predict frosts in the morning, you will have to run quickly.”
As for the squad, ASM played without its midfielder, Jérémy Fricker, victim of a ruptured ankle ligament last weekend.
The Guadeloupean players arrived in mainland France on Tuesday but were unable to stay in Alsace, due to not having found hotels during this Christmas market period. After a stay in Clairefontaine and a night in Metz, the Abyméens arrived in Alsace this Saturday morning.
As for the supporters, a group of around twenty Guadeloupeans have planned to travel to a stadium which will be shared. In fact, nearly 400 Guadeloupe supporters from all over Alsace plan to fill the stands. The club expects to welcome around a thousand people this Saturday, November 30.
The Still / Mutzig Association, a club born from a merger between the respective clubs of the two cities in 2022, experienced its first 8th round of the Coupe de France this Saturday. Even if both clubs individually have experience in this competition. AS Mutzig has already reached the round of 16 of the Coupe de France three times with its illustrious player, Arsène Wenger, at the end of the 1960s. In 2017, FC Still, then in Regional 3, made history by becoming the first club playing at this level to reach the 32nd finals. A journey that the White Devils dream of.
