McLaren put pressure on Ferrari, its rival in the fight for the Formula 1 constructors’ world title, by placing its two cars ahead of those of the Scuderia on Friday during qualifying for the Qatar Grand Prix sprint race.

Max Verstappen having won his 4th consecutive world drivers’ championship title last weekend in Las Vegas, the constructor’s crown is the last suspense of the season. Heading into the 23rd and penultimate round of the season, McLaren is in the lead with 608 points. Ferrari is 24 points away. There are a maximum of 103 points left to collect.
