Parking in the city center is a debate that often agitates Nancy and its residents. Parking in structures or on roads, what to choose?
During the metropolitan council on Thursday, November 28, in addition to voting for free parking on Saturdays in three downtown parking lots, elected officials adopted new prices for 2025.
As of January 1, 2025the car parks under construction, or 8 500 placeswhich were under the authority of the City of Nancy will pass into the hands of the Métropole du Grand Nancy. These car parks will then be organized into three zones where prices will be harmonized. Explanations.
A central area
In the city center of Nancy, which corresponds to zone T2 for on-street parking, the following car parks will be grouped together and have the same hourly rate:
- Parking Stanislas : (383 places – 13 Rue Maurice Barres);
- Vaudemont car park: (191 places – Pépinière terrace);
- Parking Dom Calmet : (196 places – rue Dom Calmet) ;
- Republic car park: (457 places – 22 Boulevard Joffre).
For example, from Monday to Saturday, this area will be 1.60 euros for the first houret 4 euros for 2 hours .
Rates for nights, Sundays and public holidays in zone T2 will be 4 euros for the first four hours and 2 euros for the following 8 hours.
A zone in the pericenter
Corresponding to the T6 on-street parking zone, the pericenter will also bring together several car parks to harmonize the hourly rate:
- Manufacture parking lot : (240 places, 74 Quai Claude le Lorrain);
- Parking Place des Vosges: (183 places – including 60 additional);
- Parking Kennedy : (301 places – Rue André Schock) ;
- Deux-Rives car park: (477 places, promenade Émilie du Châtelet).
From Monday to Friday, the price will be, for example, 40 cents the first hourand of 1.20 euros for 2 hours.
Rates for nights, Sundays and public holidays in zone T6 are 1 euro for 12 hourswith the exception of the Deux-Rives car park which is free on weekends as a relay car park.
The neighborhood area
Concerning the Neighborhood zone, where parking is free on the streets, it groups together the car parks Three Houses(139 places) and Haussonville(36 places). The latter will be paying from Monday to Saturday, at the same rate as those in the pericentre zone.
Ultimately, the Metropolis’ goal is to “change hourly rates with on-site parking systematically cheaper than on-street parking», announces Patrick Hatzig, metropolitan vice-president in charge of mobility.
