How to explain the flash floods of June 2019? A public meeting is organized at the Espace Victor-Hugo in Lisieux (Calvados), Tuesday December 3, 2024, at 6 p.m. The conclusions of a study on the causes of the Cirieux flood will be presented to residents and elected officials.
121 houses flooded
On the night of June 24 to 25, 2019, intense storms hit the sky over Lisieux and the neighboring communes of Saint-Désir and Saint-Pierre-des-Ifs. “Between midnight and 1 a.m., 55 mm of rain falls”recalls the Departmental Directorate of Territories and the Sea (DDTM). The Cirieux stream overflows, carrying away four cars and flooding 121 houses as well as a school.
A design office had been commissioned by the DDTM and the Touques Watershed Mixed Union, in order to “reconstruct the event and understand the hydraulic functioning of the Cirieux and its watershed”. And finally provide answers.
