Sandwich, burger, salad or dish with sauce, the Agenais have no shortage of choice for their lunch breaks and pleasure outings. In total, the city has no less than 234 restaurants, all types of cuisine. A wide range that allows us to meet the needs of consumers, note Justine and Myriam, who are used to leaving their office between noon and two to eat. “We went on a meal tour,” laughs Myriam, explaining that they share their meals between fast food and traditional food, according to their desires. “We prefer takeaway meals, which we eat at our workplace. But from time to time, when the weather is nice, we like to take advantage and sit on the terrace to chat,” adds Justine, her colleague.
The two women assure that their choice is determined by the service time of the restaurants. “We don't take the risk of coming to traditional restaurants, because if we have an hour and a half and we arrive at rush hour, we know that we won't be served quickly,” explains Justine, who also mentions the price constraint. “It’s the budget that dictates,” confirms Myriam, “we can’t afford to pay 15 euros every lunchtime. »
Fast and convenient
Sitting on a fast-food terrace, Radouane shares this observation. The forty-year-old stopped at a fast food restaurant for his lunch break, accompanied by his family. “We are passing through, stopping off in Agen. In circumstances like this, I find it more judicious to stop at a fast-food restaurant,” he says, referring to the opening hours of these restaurants. The Bordeaux resident believes that they respond more to the needs of today's society, where “everyone is racing with time”.
The taste of the products offered is also part of the selling points according to Aya, 15 years old. “But when we leave high school, we only find fast food places to eat and we don't have time to go home,” says the young girl, a burger in hand.
