After long months of summer preparation, the French workers take to the track this Saturday in Ruka. Logically, the French coach, Albert Bedouet spoke this week of “a lot of excitement, a lot of desire” for the athletes at the idea of returning to the World Cup.
“She has progressed compared to the level she had before the break”
On the women's side, this start of winter is marked by the return of Perrine Laffont after a season without competition. If the Pyrenees based in Haute-Savoie still remains very discreet, the news was good last October: “She has progressed compared to the level she had before the break. Obviously she will play with the best,” rejoiced Fabien Bertrand, director of freestyle skiing. Positive feedback for the whole group: “we have a very good women's team which can be really strong”, warned Bedouet who is also counting on Camille Cabrol and Fantine Degroote, after their good last season.
On the men's side, the dynamic is slightly different: “There are a lot of new guys with this discovery effect, but at the same time with a preparation that was very convincing. I think they are ready. » Starting with the most experienced, Benjamin Cavet who remains ambitious this season: “he always has this desire to be consistent in his performances. He has fewer small physical glitches. »
On one of the tracks “favorite of athletes, well lit, steep and regular”, the Blues will take their first bearings in conditions that are not easy on the other hand: “it has warmed up a lot with a little rain in recent days. There will be a very hard and technical track.”
