“For almost two years, France has engaged in reflection and dialogue with its partners on the reconfiguration of its military systems in Africa,” indicated the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press release in which it also called for “close dialogue with the Chadian. authorities.

In this sense, Paris declared that it “intends to continue the dialogue” with Chad after this African country defended a change in its “national priorities” which, however, “in no way calls into question relations and historical links. friendship between the two nations.

The decision by the government of Chad, a key player in the Western fight against terrorism with the largest French military base on the continent, seems to follow the trend in the Sahel, where some countries criticize the Western presence in their country. territories and inclined, on the other hand, to approaches to Russia, including the deployment of mercenaries from the Wagner group, now known as the Africa Corps.
