A Sainte-Catherine that takes on its full meaning

For several weeks, the Préface Company has been working at the Raymond-Boin school as part of the “Je m'enforeste” artist residency. Students from the large section of CM2 work on the theme of the forest with these artists committed to the environmental cause, through different arts.

The CM1/CM2 class studies, among other things, “The Man Who Planted Trees” by Jean Giono. This book is considered a major work of the environmentalist cause, it tells the story of a shepherd who revives his region by planting trees.

During very rich exchanges between the students and their teacher, particularly on the fictional nature of the work, a student made a spontaneous suggestion but far from being meaningless: “Well, we could plant one of a tree , We ! “.

This idea aroused everyone's enthusiasm and very quickly the various actors of “Je m'enforeste” but also of the municipality pooled their resources to integrate it into this artistic project full of meaning and hope.

Elected officials, educational team and ONF have done everything possible to ensure that this Monday, November 25, Saint Catherine's Day, the saying “On Saint Catherine's Day, all wood takes root” takes on its full meaning. In front of the school, an oak tree from the municipal forest was planted in the presence of all the students. The director of the establishment, Marie-Christine Bogard, spoke at this moment, emphasizing among other things the importance of transmitting ecological values, harmony between people and nature and respect for nature to future generations. alive.

The student who had the idea of ​​this gesture took the first symbolic shovel, covering the young roots of the oak with earth, and other students imitated him before everyone returned to their class and some began to working with artists.

The residency will soon come to an end and will give rise to a restitution from the students of the work they carried out with the artists. Parents were invited and given the investment and passion shown by the students for this project, it promises to be rich and relevant.
