Quebec – A fire on 25th street in Limoilou leaves one seriously injured

Fire at 2193, 25e Rue, it is a residence with three apartments.

Firefighters intervened last night to a fire in a residential building in the Maizerets district.

The call was made to the 9-1-1 center around 1:28 a.m. by an occupant of the building mentioning that there was a fire in a basement apartment.

The police were the first on the scene and quickly confirmed the fire and treated an injured person.

A man in his 50s suffered severe burns to his upper body. He was treated by paramedics and transported to a hospital. However, according to the SPCIQ, his life would not be threatened.

The occupants of the burned home were awakened by the smoke alarm. They had to escape through a window.

Around 20 firefighters worked on extinguishing operations, checking the spread and ventilation. Damage was limited to the home involved.

The Red Cross was on site to care for people who were unable to reintegrate.

The fire station’s investigation showed that it was an accidental fire that started in the kitchen.

Smoke alarms save lives. A working smoke alarm less than 10 years old must be installed in each dwelling and on each floor of a residence.
