Follow-ups in the case of the disappearance of little Émile in the village of Haut-Vernet in the department of Alpes de Haute-Provence. According to information from RTL, traces of human DNA were found on Emile’s bones and clothes this Friday, November 29.

This Friday, November 29, our colleagues from RTL inform us that DNA traces were found during the analysis of the bones, found by a hiker, and clothing of Émile, this boy who disappeared in the village of Vernet, on July 8, 2023. According to our colleagues, two traces were found by the forensic hematology laboratory.

Traces that do not come from his family

Still according to RTL, the traces found do not correspond to the DNA of his parents or his family. Traces of partial and degraded DNA which still make their exploitation complicated. On the other hand, our colleagues specify that the experts do their utmost to ensure that none of their DNA is left on the clothing; this could still be a trace of DNA due to contamination.

“With humidity and after a certain time, masks and gloves can become porous and leak cells,” explains an expert to RTL. Expertise is also continuing at the locations where the child’s bones and clothing, as well as the telephone, were found.
