Gary Waugh, aged 17, was last seen on November 26, 1974 as he left his partner’s home. His body was found by a passerby three days later, on Friday, November 29, south of the Kanawaki Golf Course in Kahnawake. The investigation shows that he was the victim of a homicide.
According to information gathered at the time, it was a resident of Kahnawake who discovered the young man’s body while he was setting hare traps on the Kanawaki golf course on the edge of Rang Saint-Régis. The unfortunate man’s body, riddled with bullets, had his hands tied behind his back.
It was at the request of the Kahnawake municipal police that the Personal Crimes Squad of the Sûreté du Québec went to the site. The young man, who lived in the Saint-Henri district of Montreal, would have been the victim of a settling of scores linked to the world of drugs.
