Tensions are reaching their peak in the National Assembly, ahead of a potential 49-3 and a motion of censure on Monday.
It was expected. The National Assembly did not manage in time to examine the hundreds of amendments to the proposed law to repeal the pension reform, the parliamentary process of which therefore stopped last night at midnight.
Supported by LFI as part of its parliamentary niche, this text which was to reduce the legal retirement age to 62 came up against a classic, but profitable, strategy on the part of the presidential camp, of drowning out the text. by tabling hundreds of amendments. The left, however, rejoiced in a symbolic victory yesterday afternoon, the National Assembly having rejected by a large majority a set of amendments obstructing this repeal.
The session ended in an electric atmosphere, culminating in an incident caused by Modem MP Nicolas Turquois with his LFI colleague Antoine Léaument.
Parliament is under the spotlight as the Prime Minister could resort to 49-3 for the Finance bill, and face a motion of censure from the left, which the National Rally still threatens to vote for despite of a certain number of concessions announced by Michel Barnier.
This threat is taken very seriously, even on the Paris stock exchange where the prospect of such a scenario caused the CAC 40 to sway this week.
