End of year budget: when will the Christmas bonus be paid?

Before discussing the different increases the price of gas or general medicine consultations, let's come back to the payment of the Christmas bonus. Indeed, Paul Christophe, Minister of Solidarity, Autonomy and Equality between men and women, noted the payment date of it. Every year for 26 years, millions of French people have waited for this bonus to be able to make their Christmas purchases.

A real boost for families experiencing financial difficulties, the payment date is never the same depending on the year. Although it occurs more or less at the same time, this year, CAF or MSA will transfer this bonus December 17. Those concerned do not have to take any action. Since 1998, aid has been paid automatically to the rights holders.

The price of gas on the rise again?

As for increases, the list is a little longer. And for good reason, it is first and foremost the health sector which is affected. Following an agreement between liberal doctors’ unions and Health Insurance, from December 22, the price of a general medicine consultation will be 30 euros.

The second increase obviously concerns the price of gas. Sixth revision since the start of 2024, from December 1, gas will increase by 2.5% on average. Thus, the kWh will no longer be at €0.1093 but at 0.1124€. On the tax side, December 4 will mark the last deadline to correct your online declaration. Likewise, you have until December 15 to make monthly payments your property taxor your housing tax if you are concerned.

An increase in salaries is planned in this sector

While discussions surrounding the increase in the minimum wage are still ongoing, employees of the hotel and catering industry will see their minimum hourly wage change from December 1. These professions will now be paid at 12 euros gross per hour, minimum. This is slightly more than the current hourly minimum wage, set at 11.88 euros.

Finally, this month of December marks the opening of the Parcoursup platform for students. From December 18, they will be able to consult training sheets presenting various information on the upcoming open days. On the other hand, they will not be able to express their wishes only from January 15, 2025.
