The son of the famous chef was killed in Paris on May 8, 2022 by a drunk man driving a stolen car.
The man who, behind the wheel of a stolen car, caused the death of Antoine Alléno, son of multi-star chef Yannick Alléno, was sentenced Thursday to 7 years in prison with a deferred committal warrant with provisional execution – he will be incarcerated in ten days, even if appealed. The two individuals who appeared alongside him on October 31 were acquitted with the benefit of the doubt, despite the prosecution’s requests for moderate sentences.
Considering that he had “increased risky behavior” et “the imprudences” and adopted a “inconsistent behavior” leading him “to the drama”the court also sentenced Franky Deplechin, who faced up to 10 years of imprisonment, to a cancellation of his driving license and a ban on retaking it for five years. The 27-year-old, convicted six times since 2015 for various offenses (theft, receiving stolen property, fraud, etc.), was notably on trial for involuntary manslaughter with at least two aggravating circumstances, involuntary injuries and violent theft.
“If it was me who committed them, I recognize the facts”
The facts date back to May 8, 2022. That evening, Franky Deplechin and his two acolytes, members of his family, went to a fashionable restaurant in the VIIe district of Paris. After brutalizing the valet, the first – who did not have a driving license at the time – seized an Audi RS6 and fled, driving up to 120 km/h in the streets of the capital under the alcohol empire. After hitting a first vehicle, the car collides head-on with the scooter stopped at a red light and on which Antoine Alléno and a passenger are located. The driver of the two-wheeler was killed instantly, the young woman miraculously escaped.

During the hearing, Franky Deplechin claimed that he had forgotten everything and caricatured his drunkenness at the time of the events, while his relatives maintained that it was the valet who gave him the keys to the car by mistake. Audi registered in Monaco and in which he got in alone. A derisory defense which did not convince the court. “If it was me who committed them, I recognize the factsdeclared Mr. Deplechin. I’m sorry, I want to apologize for everything I did, it should have been me who dies (sic) because it’s all my fault.”
The sudden death of Antoine Alléno, who had begun a promising career in gastronomy at the head of a restaurant opened with his father, led his family to create the association that bears his name. This advocates in particular for the creation of an offense of“road homicide” – the legislative process is underway. It also intends to help families faced with sudden bereavement following a traffic accident, and who find themselves helpless when it comes to the steps to take.
