The images are striking. At the beginning of the afternoon this Thursday, November 28, 2024, a large gas leak took place at the foot of the Montparnasse tower (14th arrondissement of Paris), next to the restaurant Les Fauves. Emergency services rushed to the scene.
Around sixty firefighters mobilized
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. Technicians were working on a gas line in front of the restaurant when a fire occurred. The firefighters spoke toParis news “a flare, a gas leak which would have ignited”. According to the BSPP, a flame several meters high licked the front and the terrace of the establishment.
Customers and restaurant staff were quickly evacuated. The report shows two people in relative urgencyrather due tointoxication only for burns. One of them was hospitalized, a police source tells us.
Around sixty firefighters mobilized
For more than an hour, the area was cordoned off at the corner of rue Edgard Quinet and rue du Départ. Fifteen trucks and around sixty firefighters were deployed.
A witness present on site and contacted by Paris newsexplains not having heard an explosion. “Help arrived very quickly and the fire was quickly extinguished,” she said. An investigation was opened and entrusted to the district police station, a police source tells us.
