The deputy of La France insoumise Antoine Léaument recounted this Thursday on BFMTV the incident which marred the National Assembly during which the elected Modem Nicolas Turquois threatened him.
It is an incident which punctuated the parliamentary niche of La France insoumise this Thursday, November 28, in the National Assembly. The deputy of La France insoumise Antoine Léaument claimed to have been physically threatened in the hemicycle by his colleague Modem Nicolas Turquois.
This session incident occurred at the end of a tense day, during debates on the repeal of the pension reform at 64, while the shadow of censorship from Michel Barnier’s government looms large. The LFI deputy asked Nicolas Turquois to leave the Assembly because he had already threatened a socialist elected official.
“I told him ‘if you are violent, get out’. He came down, he came towards me and said ‘because of you I am threatened'”, said Antoine Léaument, elected official from Essonne.
For him, this is a reference to current debates within the framework of the parliamentary niche of La France insoumise.
Antoine Léaument calls for sanctions
“He mentioned sending emails from people who are currently calling on Macronist deputies to withdraw the amendments so that we can go to a vote on the repeal of the pension reform at 64,” shared Antoine Léaument at the microphone of BFMTV.
“I told him ‘come on, get out now’. There, he came back to me quite quickly. I think that without the intervention of the bailiffs, he would have put one on me”, judges the elected LFI.
Antoine Léaument requested sanctions following this incident. “This is not normal. I was sanctioned for having reminded that the extreme right is heir to Vichy. And he would not be sanctioned? This is not normal”, he said.
According to the regulations of the National Assembly, Nicolas Turquois can be sanctioned for “having caused a tumultuous scene” or “a personal accusation”. The President of the National Assembly may issue a simple call to order or a call to order with entry in the minutes.
The Modem deputy can also be censored or censored with temporary exclusion. This sanction was applied to the rebellious Sébastien Delogu for brandishing a Palestinian flag in the hemicycle.
