- Eight Geneva companies were awarded prizes for their commitment to professional training.
- Ten apprentice trainers also received a recognized federal diploma.
- Apprentice training is an added value for participating companies.
- The prize recognizes efforts to maintain and develop local know-how.
This Tuesday, in the excitement of a joyful ceremony, eight Geneva companies (one per training center and one large company) were rewarded for the quality of their commitment to professional training.
The prize for the best company is an initiative of the Cité des Métiers association which brings together employer and union associations, as well as the Department of Public Education, Training and Youth (DIP).
Alongside this prize, ten apprentice trainers who have professionalized their practice received their diploma recognized by the Confederation. Here is the list of winning companies.
Arts Center: Kito Advertising
Kito Advertising works in the field of advertising production where creativity and innovation are intrinsically linked to young people in training.
“Training apprentices allows us to develop talents adapted to our needs, while enriching our team with new ideas and dynamic energy,” assures director Marco Vicente. This also creates a constant exchange of knowledge and strengthens cohesion within our company. On the other hand, supporting apprentices requires time, patience and particular attention to ensure that they develop effectively while maintaining the quality of our production.”
Commerce Department: Positiva SA
“Certainly, the first year requires good preparation for the training of an apprentice. Support, product knowledge, behavior, hygiene, customer reception, compliance with instructions, teamwork. But subsequently, we have an exemplary and motivated employee who just wants to evolve,” notes Corinne Wiedmann, director of Positive SA which trains in the bakery, pastry, confectionery, chocolate and sales professions.
She makes a point of keeping her apprentices for at least a year after completing their diploma “to avoid the pressure of finding a job by default. But I encourage them to change employers… to get back to us better!”
Construction Division: El Top SA
“Each success of a CFC is a source of pride,” rejoices Guy Beguelin, director and trainer of apprentice assembly electricians and electrical installers at El Top SA.
For him too, the commitment of his apprentices at the end of their training is a real advantage. “As they have benefited from quality training, both at a practical and theoretical level, they respect the rules in force and know perfectly how the company operates.”
Nature and environment division: Jacquet SA
Transmission is rooted in the spirit of Jacket SA which is currently training ten apprentice landscape horticulturists and nursery growers.
“They embody the future of our organization, bringing with them a breath of renewal. Their presence also reminds us that each of us has been, at some point, in training or an apprentice,” confide Mélodie Rouhaud-Bruzzi, human resources manager, and Bastien Fleschmann, deputy director.
Social Health Center: La Clef D’Arve SA pharmacy
According to Jana Barsan, pharmacist responsible for pharmacy assistants and director of pharmacy La Clef d’Arve SA“apprenticeship professions are not valued enough. However, know-how in all areas is essential for the proper functioning of a society.”
Despite the time and energy involved in this commitment, “training is stimulating for an entire team and rewarding when the journey is crowned with a CFC”.
Service and hotel and catering sector: Swissoja SA
Apprentices occupy a central place at Swissoja where they are considered full team members. The company trains food practitioners and AFP logisticians as well as commercial employees.
“They actively participate in the production, innovation and development of our products, while learning the specificities of the profession,” explains manager Aurélia Studer. Their training is integrated into the daily life of the company, which allows them to develop an in-depth understanding of the processes and values that we defend.”
Technical Center: The Grandson of LU Chopard & Cie SA
For more than forty years, the manufacture on a human scale The Grandson of LU Chopard & Cie SA trains apprentices in watchmaking, micromechanics, jewelry and, from the next school year, in precious stone setting.
According to Céline Vetsch, watchmaker and head of professional training, “this prize is a very nice reward. It is recognition for all the company’s trainers as well as the people who contribute, directly or indirectly, to perpetuating know-how, by offering the best training to future generations.”
Large company: Planzer Transports SA
The Planter Group trains more than 400 apprentices in Switzerland (including 18 in Geneva) in 15 different professions.
“Our apprentices represent essential succession and bring valuable added value to our company,” says project manager Olivier Barb. Many former apprentices now occupy permanent and responsible positions. This year, of the 98 Planzer Group apprentices who completed their course, 53 were hired.”
