Tension rose a notch in the National Assembly this Thursday, November 28, 2024. While the deputies were debating, in an already electric climate, the repeal of the pension reform, an altercation allegedly broke out off camera, during the suspension of session.
Returning to the microphone in the hemicycle, the socialist deputy Arthur Delaporte explained that a « colleague from the Modem group (was) given over to provocations » and shown “threatening”.
“A Macronist MP tries to hit Antoine Léaument”
In the images shared by Insoumis Louis Boyard, we actually see tensions erupting at the foot of the steps.
The rebellious elected official Antoine Léaument would then have been attacked by the MoDem deputy Nicolas Turquois. “A Macronist THREATENED a PS colleague, then, when I asked him to leave the chamber, came to threaten me. This physical violence in the Assembly is a reflection of the social violence of retirement at 64. We will repeal it,” said the person concerned on X.
“Your colleague came to threaten me”, he insisted on the microphone in the hemicycle. “Luckily Mr. Fesneau that you were there to detain the colleague from your group and that the bailiffs intervened, because otherwise I’m not sure that I wouldn’t have gotten a dough”he added, according to LCP.
The incident mentioned “during the next office meeting”
An incident confirmed by Marc Fesneau, president of the Les Démocrates group in the Assembly. “Indeed there was a lively exchange [avec] a colleague”, he said, adding that “the MP in question will explain this when the time comes”.
Xavier Breton (Republican Right), who chairs the session, announced that he would propose “It is up to Madam President to discuss this incident at the next office meeting.”
