In Carhaix, a gas leak caused the evacuation of an entire sector of the city center this Thursday

While major work has been taking place for several weeks on the networks of rue du Général-Lambert, a shopping street in the city center, a major gas leak was discovered this Thursday, November 28, 2024, around 10 a.m. 30, by employees of the Gourin company Toulgoat who were digging by hand nearby. The site manager immediately alerted the firefighters, who quickly secured the perimeter between Place d’Aiguillon and the Kreiz-Ker crossroads. Residents, traders and employees – including the editorial staff of Le Télégramme, located rue du Général-Lambert – therefore had to leave their premises.

GRDF’s intervention secures the area

The intervention of a GRDF team made it possible to locate a gas leak on a sleeve, and installed a temporary tap to stop the leak. In the middle of the morning, the police and firefighters suggested that this evacuation would probably last all day.

Finally, thanks to the success of the intervention carried out at the beginning of the afternoon by GRDF, all the businesses and homes in the area were able to return to their premises around 2:30 p.m.
