Explosions were heard Thursday morning in several cities in Ukraine amid reports of a Russian cruise missile attack, several media outlets reported.
Infrastructure affected
The port city of Odessa, in southern Ukraine, Kropivnitsky, in the center of the country, and Kharkiv, in the east, were notably targeted, according to media reports. “The enemy continues to attack Kharkiv with missiles”wrote the city's mayor, Ihor Terekhov, on Telegram. The governor of the Odessa region, Oleh Kiper, called on the population to stay safe.
Ukraine reported early Thursday a “massive attack” against the country's energy infrastructure and said it had to carry out emergency power cuts, particularly in kyiv when temperatures were close to 0°C.
“Once again, the energy sector is under massive attack from the enemy”the Ministry of Energy said on Facebook. Emergency power cuts were implemented in particular in kyiv, Odessa and Dnipro, said the operator DTEK.
