The evening at the restaurant goes wrong: the ethanol heater explodes, four customers injured, two seriously

The evening in a restaurant in Cannes, cours Félix Faure, did not go as planned, this Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

Around 9:45 p.m., an ethanol heater literally exploded. Four people were injured in the explosion, two of them seriously, reports BFM.

Burned

Twenty-two firefighters were sent to the scene of the accident. The victims, burned, are aged 30 to 54 years old.

The circumstances of the accident remain unknown at this time.

Precautions

As a reminder, some heating devices should be used with caution. One of the main risks of domestic accidents in winter is carbon monoxide poisoning. It affects 4,000 households each year, including 500 people in Île-de-France. It causes around a hundred deaths per year.

While most home electrical safety systems are generally sufficient to compensate for short circuits, they can sometimes trigger domestic accidents such as fires, or destroy the appliances concerned. 25% of home fires are caused by electrical malfunctions.
