To resolve the war in Ukraine, Donald Trump appoints Keith Kellogg on November 27, 2024 and that says a lot about his peace plans.

WAR IN UKRAINE – His plan for “solve the war in Ukraine in 24 hours” still remained very vague. But by announcing the appointment of General Keith Kellogg as emissary to end the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, future American President Donald Trump reveals part of his project.

During the electoral campaign, the Republican repeatedly boasted of being able to bring peace between kyiv and Moscow after almost three years of fighting. Last September, he still declared having a “ precise plan to stop Ukraine and Russia »but wanted “keep the surprise” about this.

Since his election on November 5, the billionaire has barely discussed the war in Ukraine and his infallible peace plan. It is only known that he had a call with President Volodymyr Zelensky, who described their conversation “excellent”. Elon Musk also attended this interview.

But this Wednesday, he announced that one of his followers, Keith Kellogg, would be responsible for ending the war. “He’s been with me since the beginning!” Together we will achieve peace through strength and make America and the world safe again! »wrote the president-elect in a publication on his Truth Social network.

Military aid to kyiv conditional on talks with Moscow

Keith Kellogg, aged 80, is little known to the general public. He briefly chaired the National Security Council, the White House foreign policy cabinet, during Donald Trump's first term. Vietnam War veteran Keith Kellogg supported the Republican when he threatened last February to no longer guarantee the protection of NATO countries against Russia if they did not pay their share. He even claimed that he “would encourage” Moscow to attack them, provoking controversy.

But especially in April, he published a memo with another conservative in which he detailed his own plan to resolve this European conflict. The United States “would continue to arm Ukraine and strengthen its defenses to ensure that Russia will not make further advances or attacks after a ceasefire or peace agreement,” he wrote.

However“any future US military aid will require Ukraine to participate in peace talks with Russia”he recommended, calling for “ postpone Ukraine's membership in NATO for an extended period » in order to “ convince (Russian President Vladimir) Putin to participate in peace talks ».

The former general finally underlined that “ the government and people of Ukraine will find it difficult to accept a negotiated peace that does not return all of their territory to them”. “But as Donald Trump said (…) in 2023, “I want everyone to stop dying”. This is also our point of view. It's a good first step.”he added.

Donald Trump has not yet revealed whether he subscribes to his envoy's ideas. But he already warned during the campaign that he wanted to put kyiv back at the negotiating table and that he was not really in favor of large-scale military aid. He even considered ceding part of the territories occupied by Russia, as revealed by sources in Washington Post. kyiv has been warned.
