Catalan defender Adrià Pedrosa has firmly established himself as the No.1 choice at left-back for Sevilla FC, despite signing Valentín Barco to provide competition. García Pimienta did not hesitate to put his trust in Pedrosa as a regular starter.
Valentín Barco’s almost certain return to Brighton, following his unsuccessful loan spell at Sevilla, has deeper implications. Pedrosa, who was Monchi’s last signing for Sevilla, took full control of the left flank at the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium. All new arrivals during the next winter transfer window will know that the competition for this position will be fierce.
Pedrosa outperformed the exotic gamble that was Barco, a player whose defensive abilities were widely criticized. Although the former Espanyol player is not known for his hard tackling, it is clear that he already has an advantage over Barco in terms of defensive abilities, helping Sevilla contain the influx of goals conceded since his left side.
