“Our job is also to discover the truth so that families can mourn.” At the end of March, bones belonging to young Émile, a little boy who disappeared in July 2023, were discovered on a trail in Haut-Vernet (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence). Eight months later, Hubert Bonneau took stock of the investigation on RTL on Wednesday, November 27.
According to the Director General of the National Gendarmerie, all avenues concerning the death of the boy continue to be investigated. “20 investigators” remain “permanently mobilized” on this file. “There are a lot of assessments currently being carried out by experts from the IRCGN, the Gendarmerie Criminal Research Institute, who compare the results and study them”explained Hubert Bonneau in particular.
“We are not ruling out anything in this matter.”underlined the boss of the National Gendarmerie this Wednesday, November 27. After months of trying to find the trace of little Émile, a hiker helped advance the investigation by discovering, by chance, the young boy's skull.
At the end of June, the Bordeaux forensic hematology laboratory was entrusted with Emile's bones and clothing for analysis. A report was also given to the judges. And Unknown human DNA foreign to the boy's family was discovered. According to information from RTL, this famous DNA trace was found in small quantities. It has been mixed with one or more DNA. However, investigators preferred to remain cautious about its exploitation.
