Josée Girard is named artist of the year on the North Shore by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ).
The CALQ) awarded this prize to the multidisciplinary artist in collaboration with Culture Côte-Nord. This prize comes with an amount of $10,000.
“Josée Girard is an involved woman who has contributed to democratizing art on the North Shore for several years. Versatile and multi-talented, she reinvents and renews herself for the happiness of her diverse audiences,” mention the members of the jury brought together by the CALQ.
Josée Girard lives and works in Baie-Comeau. She is an author, actress, director and artistic director.
His artistic approach, deeply rooted in creative theater, draws its inspiration from the great outdoors and north-coastal nature.
She has directed numerous productions, including more recently for young audiences. The Carnival of the Animals presented during a tour in Basse-Côte-Nord. Over the last four years, we have seen his talent as a performer, among others, in River, Marco is shipwrecked et I give my tongue to the cat.
The artist is also greatly involved in her community. It supports, engages, trains, and defends artists in the region, while introducing the public to the creative process through cultural mediation.
