The International Union of Arab Bankers (WUAB) awarded the Housing Bank the “Arab Banking Excellence and Achievement Award for 2024” during an economic and financial conference which was held in Cairo last week, in the presence of Arab bankers and businessmen.
This award was received by Antoine Habib, chairman of the board of directors and general director of the Housing Bank, from the hands of the president of the Union, Dr. Joseph Tarabay.
Earlier this year, at the beginning of June, and after more than five years of suspension, the Housing Bank relaunched the granting of subsidized loans for housing, and began accepting applications from Lebanese who would like to acquire a real estate. Unlike the old mechanism where the customer presented their request physically in a bank branch, this request is now made online, on a platform set up by this bank.
These loans, intended for low-income households (between $1,200 and $1,500) and middle-income households (between $1,500 and $2,000), are capped at $40,000 and $50,000, depending on the category of applicants. .
