A restaurateur tried to pursue the assailant who threatened a woman by putting a knife to her throat this Tuesday in Saint-Etienne (Loire). Shot dead by a municipal police officer, the individual tried to flee armed with several knives.
Julien Jeanroch, restaurateur, found himself unwillingly witnessing the neutralization of an individual this Tuesday in Saint-Etienne (Loire). A few minutes earlier, the latter had threatened a woman by putting a knife to her throat, before fleeing and being shot dead by a municipal police officer in self-defense of others, according to a judicial source from CNEWS .
“I was opening my restaurant when I saw that something was happening on the square with a certain excitement. Then a woman came in with her child to take refuge in my restaurant,” Julien Jeanroch told CNEWS. “I went to her and asked her what was going on. She told me that there was a man walking around Place Jean Jaurès, at the Christmas market with knives in his hands. Of course, I reassured her by telling her that she could stay safe in my restaurant.”
“catch him, catch him!”
“And it was when I went out into the street that I heard 'catch him, catch him!' and that I saw the individual with the knives in his hands running. At that moment, I put down everything I had in my hands and ran after him,” he continued.
“I tried to catch up with him as best I could, the police car caught up with me and beat me to it. I was able to witness the end of the scene where a police officer shot the individual,” concluded Julien Jeanroch.
