Evolution of sick leave in the Civil Service

CONTEXT OF WAITING DAYS IN THE PUBLIC SERVICE. CURRENT SITUATION:

➽ This measure, introduced by Éric Woerth, Minister of the Civil Service in the Sarkozy government, was abolished in 2014, then reintroduced in 2018 by the Macron government, under the pretext of harmonization with the private sector and the fight against absenteeism .

➽ Currently, public employees suffer a waiting day in the event of sick leave, the first day of absence for health reasons is not compensated, which the CGT has always denounced and we demand the elimination of the waiting day currently in force.

PROPOSAL FROM THE BARNIER GOVERNMENT

➽ The government plans to increase this deadline to three days, thus bringing the public service more into line with certain private sector companies where deadlines are similar.

➽ Furthermore, the replacement rate of remuneration during short-term sick leave would be reduced from 100% to 90%.

Faced with this unacceptable policy, it is urgent to mobilize.

The civil service strike day on December 5 must be the first step in the balance of power that we must build against this government.

The UFSE CGT calls on all public officials to massively join this first mobilization to defend their rights, their working conditions, and the dignity of their professions.

Let us all refuse these regressions together and work for a Public Service driven by fair and equitable security and social protection policies for the benefit of all.
