Latest Garmin Fenix 8 update brings CIQ app improvements and other bug fixes

Garmin is not waiting to offer new bug fixes for its recent smartwatches. As a reminder, the company began rolling out system software 12.22 earlier this week for the Enduro 3, Fenix E, and Fenix 8 Watch (currently $1,099.99 at Amazon). In summary, this stable update contained 130 changes, 79 of which were bug fixes.

Garmin has now begun its next software development cycle, which will begin with beta 12.31. As a result, Garmin has once again disabled the diving and electrocardiogram (ECG) functions, which will return when a next stable update has been finalized. Meanwhile, beta 12.31 brings seven new bug fixes.

For example, Garmin now claims to have fixed issues that prevented phone call alert tones from playing. Additionally, alarms should now work correctly after migrating from a Fenix 7 to an Enduro 3, Fenix E, or Fenix 8. Additionally, beta 12.31 comes with two CIQ-focused bug fixes, which are as follows:

  • Fixed the ability of the CIQ app to close with the Palm Cover.
  • Fixed issue with CIQ watch face displaying after resetting the device.
  • Fixed setting alarms to silent after migrating settings from Fenix 7.
  • Fixed missing tones for phone call alerts.
  • Fixed selecting the countdown icon by touch.
  • Fixed fishing timer state toggling.
  • Fixed Tides app timeout issue.
