At midnight, this is how the seats are distributed:

    – the Progressive Conservatives have 37 elected MPs and lead in 4 ridings, which could lead them to 41 MPs and a super-majority in the House if the trend continues. The party obtained 53.5% of the popular vote.

    – the New Democratic Party has 7 elected deputies and leads in 2 constituencies. If the situation remains the same, they will have 9 deputies in the assembly. They will in any case form the official opposition. The party obtained 21.6% of the votes.

    – the Liberal Party has 1 elected MP and leads in 3 constituencies, including two by less than 5 votes. They would get 4 seats in Province House if the trend continues. The party obtained 22.9% of the votes.

If the party comes second in the popular vote with 23% of the votes currently ahead of the NDP at 21.5%, they still lose the official opposition status which belongs to the New Democrats. The party leader could also not be re-elected in his hotly contested constituency.

Liberal Leader Zach Churchill now tied with Progressive Conservative in Yarmouth

While 39 of the 40 ballot boxes have been counted, two candidates are tied. Liberal Leader Zach Churchill and Progressive Conservative Nick Hilton both received 5,017 votes.

Liberal leader Zach Churchill has just returned to the lead in the riding of Yarmouth

There are still three ballot boxes left to count. The liberal leader, who conceded the defeat of his party, returns to the front with only 5 small votes in advance. Nothing is decided yet.

If the trend continues, the Progressive Conservative Party would make 7 gains, the NDP would gain 4 ridings and the Liberals would lose 11 seats. With only three MPs in the assembly (if the two leading Liberal candidates end up being elected), this would be the party’s worst result since 1963.

While results came in quickly in many precincts, there are still 10 races out of the total 55 that have yet to be awarded.

The Progressive Conservative Party leads in six of them, the New Democrats in three and the Liberals in only one. Two are fights less than 100 votes apart and five under 200 votes.
