It was an evening full of brilliance and recognition when the Pestalozzi group and its subsidiary Gabs AG awarded, for the ninth time already, the Pestalozzi Apprenticeship Prize 2024 to the next generation of Swiss talent, on Friday, November 22. The Olympic Museum in Lausanne provided the perfect setting to honor the 43 young talents from French-speaking Switzerland.
For nine years, the best apprentices of their year in the branches of the Pestalozzi group have received the highly appreciated Apprenticeship Prize. One of this year’s best graduates particularly stood out: Romain Boyer from La Tour-de-Trême FR completed his apprenticeship as a CFC metal constructor at R. Morand & Fils SA in Enney FR with an impressive grade of 5.8, which is which earned him applause.
However, all the other winners, who achieved averages above 4.8, also had good reason to celebrate. A result of which they can all be proud. As prizes, they each received a certificate and an Ultimate Ears Boom 3 Bluetooth speaker.
Motivation through esteem
The Pestalozzi Apprenticeship Prize aims to reward the best graduates of their year, while encouraging and strengthening the relevant branches and professional training. From the trainers’ point of view, the Apprenticeship Prize is also a welcome source of motivation. “We think that the prize is a good motivation for the apprentices. It is recognition of the work accomplished as well as the opportunity for them to spend a pleasant evening during which their profession is valued and the efforts made are rewarded,” says Christianne Castella, Human Resources manager of R. Morand & Fils SA in Enney FR, also elected Best Training Company 2023 by the Union Employers of the Canton of Friborg (UPCF).
And Bertrand Faivre, Engineering Manager and training manager at Tornos SA in Moutier BE, says: “Of course as a training company, we are always very proud when one of our apprentices obtains a prize at the end of their apprenticeship This also gives visibility to the company and recognition of our work as trainers. “Tornos SA was also voted best training company 2023-2024 in the industrial category awarded by the Chamber of Public Economy. Bernese Jura, via the Department of Public Education of the canton of Berne.
An evening that will be remembered
Matthias Pestalozzi, owner and delegate of the board of directors of the Pestalozzi Group, appeared before the audience at the Olympic Museum and personally congratulated all the winners. “We not only reward exceptional performance, we also proudly support the future of our sector,” he emphasizes, thus demonstrating the importance that the Pestalozzi group places on promoting the next generation. The awards ceremony was not the only thing that made the event shine: comedian Yoann Provenzano led the evening masterfully, while a dinner worthy of the name crowned this festive evening.
A promotion of the next generation that bears fruit
The Pestalozzi Group is also very committed internally: Every year, around a dozen apprentices begin their training in different professional areas of the company – from trade to logistics to road transport. In addition, on Friday, November 8, the “Stiftepriis”, the German-speaking counterpart of the Apprenticeship Prize, was awarded to 110 winners for the 42nd time in the Zurich region.
