Confirmed Tuesday evening, November 26 by Netanyahu, Macron and Biden, the ceasefire could come into force this Wednesday. The application of this text, negotiated hard by Washington, remains full of uncertainties.
A ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel is due to come into force this Wednesday, November 27 in the morning at 4 a.m. (3 a.m. French time). After the Israeli government accepted the agreement with Lebanon on Tuesday evening, the Lebanese government met early Wednesday morning to formally confirm the ratification of an agreement that it has been desperately awaiting for weeks. The application of this text, negotiated under American and French mediation and pressure, however, remains full of uncertainties.
What does the ceasefire agreement based on UN Resolution 1701 provide?
The full text of the agreement reached after weeks of laborious negotiations led by the United States and France with the Israelis and the Lebanese has not been published by any official source. Only its broad outlines are officially known while other important provisions have been revealed by leaks in Israeli, American or Lebanese media. But not always the same and still not confirmed by all parties.
