Nicolás Larcamón joins Nécaxa! New coach takes reins after controversial clash with Ortiz

The club welcomes the strategist with a video that recalls his infamous altercation with former América coach Fernando Ortiz, as fans await a change in management after a difficult season.

Nécaxa have announced Nicolás Larcamón as their new head coach ahead of the Clausura 2025 tournament, following the departure of Eduardo Fentanes. The club made the news official through a video posted on their social networks, referring to a controversial incident between Larcamón and Ortiz that occurred in April 2023 during a match between América and León.

The 13-second video begins with an image of Nicolás Larcamón’s chest, as he tears part of his shirt, revealing Nécaxa’s crest underneath. It then shows scenes of the Argentine coach celebrating goals during his tenure with Puebla and León, teams he previously managed in Liga MX.

The sequence alludes to the confrontation between Larcamón and Ortiz in a match that ended with both coaches being sent off following a scuffle, during which the León coach’s shirt was torn due to the draws by Ortiz.

The Rayos club accompanied the video with a message saying: “We know that the passion and commitment that sets you apart will be the hallmark of your team. Welcome to your new home!” The reference to the April incident has not gone unnoticed, and the club’s supporters are eager to see how the intensity of their new coach will be reflected in the team’s performances.

Larcamón returns to the bench after a seven-month absence, following his stint with Cruzeiro in Brazil. Previously, he managed Puebla from 2021 to 2022, and in 2023 he was in charge of León, where he enjoyed several successes before moving to Brazilian football. The strategist arrives with the mission to improve the results of Nécaxa, which finished in thirteenth place in the previous tournament with 15 points, seven less than the qualifying places, with three victories, six draws and eight defeats.

Under Larcamón’s leadership, Nécaxa hopes to regain its competitive level and return to the fight for the top spots in Mexican football, looking to experience a revival after a season with mixed results.
