In a press release, the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) specifies that these searches took place on the banks of the Mille-Îles River, in collaboration with the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
On August 10, 2022, around 10:25 p.m., men were talking in the parking lot of a high school located at the intersection of Avenue P. -M. -Favier and rue de Charny. Two suspects then opened fire in their direction, before fleeing.
When they arrived on site, the police discovered Jayson Colin, seriously injured, in addition to projectile impacts on vehicles and shell casings on the ground.
The 26-year-old victim was transported to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. It was the 19the murder to occur in SPVM territory that year. Another man was also injured.
According to our information from several sources, Jayson Colin could have been a collateral victim of a conflict between a gang from Laval and a gang from Montreal North. The victim, a young man with no history involved in his community, was not connected to any criminal group or conflict and who could have found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Our sources believe that the murder of Jayson Colin could be a response to a homicide committed in Laval a few weeks earlier. There is talk of possible tension between the “43” of Montreal North and certain members of a street gang in Laval.
Anyone with details regarding this event is asked to contact 911 or their local station. A mobile command post was deployed by the SPVM on August 9 to collect information from the public.
