War in the Middle East: Israel announces a ceasefire in Lebanon in its war against Hezbollah

Israeli security cabinet approves truce deal with Hezbollah – Israeli JERUSALEM, November 26 (Reuters) –

The Israeli security cabinet approved a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah in Lebanon on Tuesday, reports Israeli Channel 12. The agreement is supposed to come into force this Wednesday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made this announcement assuring that the ceasefire will be effective “in the evening”. This ceasefire must put an end to more than a year of cross-border hostilities and two months of open war in Lebanon.

However, the Israeli Prime Minister announced that Israel will retain “total” freedom of action in Lebanon. For Netanyahu, “the duration of the ceasefire depends on what happens in Lebanon.”

Netanyahu said he wanted to focus on the fight against Iran, saying that Israel was “changing the situation in the region.”

Note that the Israeli Prime Minister also specified that Israel would “react” if Hezbollah violated the truce.

Hezbollah has not yet commented on this announcement. But Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said the international community must “act quickly” to stop Israeli aggression “and implement an immediate ceasefire.”
