For example, it is incapable of following you from one screen to another, of letting you resume on your smartphone the episode of a series of La Une in “replay” where you left off on the television and the decoder. However, it is a standard function on streaming services (SVOD) like Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, etc.
In gradual deployment, the “new” Proximus Pickx engine fills this gap. “It corrects the situation by introducing a series of new functions,” explained Jim Casteele, Consumer Market Lead at Proximus, in February 2024. “It is in line with what the applications of Netflix and others offer.”
The Proximus Pickx customer is notified by email
This migration is a long-term project, which will continue in 2025.
The customer who is preparing to switch from the old to the new “engine” is notified by email. Subject of the email: “Important: technical update of your Pickx service”. “Over the next few weeks,” the message continues, “the adaptation of your TV Box will be done automatically via a software update. So you don’t have to do anything for this! Good news!”
Return to standard channel ranking
Nothing to do, really?
Once the update has been injected automatically, anyone who had manually sorted the TV channels in the order of their choice will have to start all over again. The update reinstates the original order: La Une on channel 1, TF1 on 6, France 5 on 23, etc.
“Have you changed the order of your channels? If you have personalized the order of your TV channels, you will have to start the operation again,” confirms Proximus. “After updating the software, you will receive a notification about it on your TV Box.”
The Pickx application replacing the application… Proximus Pickx
Another obligatory step: downloading the new Pickx application on smartphones and tablets. How to recognize it in the application stores? It’s called Pickx for short, versus Proximus Pickx for the former.
This is clearly confusing. Anyone who downloads the new Pickx app before the transition will encounter the message “Just have a little patience. The new Pickx app is not yet available for you.”
Only three compatible TV decoders
Three models of Proximus Pickx TV decoders are compatible with the migration update to the new platform: TV Box Android Wi-Fi, TV Box Android, TV Box V5c.
To complete the transhumance, the operator must therefore also orchestrate a major campaign to replace old devices: the V4 (version 4), V5 and V6 decoders.
