The SPVM in Sainte-Rose to find the weapons of a 2022 murder

On Tuesday, November 26, divers from the Sûreté du Québec assisted the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) to inspect the Mille-Îles River and its banks, looking for weapons from a murder perpetrated in August 2022 in Montreal -North.

On duty since 9 a.m., specialized SPVM patrol officers and divers have already discovered evidence which should be analyzed shortly.

The police are therefore carrying out their searches on the banks of the Mille-Îles River, in the area of ​​the Gédéon-Ouimet bridge, linking and Boisbriand via Highway 15.

New information revealed during the investigation would have led to this police operation stemming from the wanton murder of a 26-year-old young man, Jayson Colin, on the evening of August 10, 2022, in the parking lot of a Montreal high school- North.

“We’re talking about a young man with no history, very involved in the community, who helped young people get out of trouble and get back on the right path,” explains Jean-Pierre Brabant, SPVM public relations officer. Two hooded suspects walked towards him and shot him dead.”

It was then the 19the homicide on Montreal territory.

The SPVM also deployed a command post not far from their searches, on Rue de la Pointe-Langlois, just east of Highway 15.

“Our divers and agents are still in action at the moment,” underlines Jean-Pierre Brabant. We will be there for a good part of the day. People who have information that could help the investigation can also call 911 or the Info-CRIME line at 514 393-1133.”
