French martial arts are in mourning. David Héran, Sambo world champion in 2016, died at the age of 46. The fighter lost his life three days after a dramatic road accident that occurred on Thursday, November 21, on the A6b motorway near Chevilly-Larue, in Val-de-Marne, as reported Actu 17. A terrible pileup took place due to bad weather caused by storm Caetano, involving a Blablacar bus, four cars and a motorcycle. Four other people were placed in absolute emergency and 31 others were slightly injured.

Coach at the Paris Université Club, Fushan Kwoon de Vanves and the French Sambo team, David Héran was also a police officer since 2003. The Alliance Police Nationale union paid a vibrant tribute to his former colleague on Facebook: “It is with heavy hearts and eyes full of tears that we announce the death of David. He joined the angels this Sunday, November 24, 2024. David was a seasoned police officer, a practitioner and enthusiast of combat sports as well as a dedicated delegate who worked for many years in the Paris regional office. Your sudden and brutal disappearance reminds us how fragile and precious life is. All our thoughts are with your colleagues, sports companions and especially your family.“

The union also announced the creation of an online fundraiser to help David Héran's family in this ordeal: “In order to support his wife, children and loved ones during this difficult ordeal, we have set up a fund. It will help cover the funeral and various costs. David has always been there for many of us. Let's be there for his family.” David Héran was married and had two children. An expert in combat sports, he was a consultant for Eurosport, RMC Sport Combat or even The Team Channel.
