Several European countries are taking initiatives to anticipate a possible armed conflict, following on from the war in Ukraine.
This is the case in Germany, Sweden and even Finland.

Should European countries already prepare for the worst? This is the question asked, while the signs of an escalation with Russia are confirmed, in the continuity of the war in Ukraine. In Germany, the authorities have just taken the initiative of listing the bunkers present in the territory in order to constitute a digital directory which would guide residents in the event of an attack. Sweden has published 5 million new “survival manuals” explaining how to prepare a survival kit, locate shelter or store water and food. In Finland, the government has launched a website called “Preparing for Incidents and Crises”.
Furthermore, military service is making a comeback in several countries, such as Lithuania and Sweden. Serbia and Croatia are expected to reinstate it in 2025, while Germany and the United Kingdom are considering it.
