Black Friday: the SNCF TGV INOUI Advantage Card is at a knockdown price, just in time for Christmas

[Deal du jour] With the end-of-year holidays coming up, finding tickets at fairly reasonable prices is becoming an obstacle course. Fortunately Black Friday is here and it also brings its share of discounts on train tickets. Currently, Trainline offers the SNCF Advantage Card at 20%.

What is this promotion on the Advantage card on Trainline?

Usually offered at the price of €49, the Avantage card is available for €39.80 only through Trainline. The offer is valid for the Black Friday period, from November 26 until December 2, with the discount code BLACKFRIDAYwithin the limit of 18,000 codes available.

Although it is not the SNCF, you can go there with your eyes closed. Trainline is a reliable British retailer where you can make train and bus ticket reservations with Eurostar, Thalys, Flixbus, SNCF and Ouigo. Its application is just as useful and offers a good alternative to SNCF Connect for ticket management.

What is this TGV INOUI Advantage card?

The SNCF Advantage card promises to save money on TGV journeys. It exists for ages 12 to 60, with varying conditions for each card. The most interesting option being that for 27-59 year olds who can use the reduction for an accompanying person.

The Avantage card allows on paper to benefit from at least 30% guaranteed reduction on all of its trips. In fact, it does not apply a reduction directly to ticket prices, but it allows a cap to be set at:

  • €49 maximum for journeys of less than 1h30;
  • €69 maximum for journeys between 1h30 and 3h;
  • €89 maximum for journeys lasting more than 3 hours.

This is very practical when you know that prices tend to rise quickly, especially at the last minute. Thus, it allows it to be profitable quickly, although the ceiling increased by €10 last year. In theory, the SNCF also announces a card that “pays for itself from the 3rd trip”. In practice, it’s a bit more complicated and usually involves traveling a number of times.

Beyond this discount, you also benefit from – 60% on tickets for three accompanying children and those for three accompanying children. There is also a -15% discount on SNCF services including car rental with AVIS and Budget.

At this price, is this Advantage card a good deal during Black Friday?

This is a great deal if you travel regularly throughout the year. For Christmas periods, this can also be interesting – well, as long as there are still tickets available for your journey. This end-of-year period is generally complicated due to high demand and could be even more so with strikes.

However, it is always good to have an Advantage card on hand, since it offers a multitude of discounts through its services. With it, you can enjoy the bars and restaurants on board the TGV.

You can directly import your Advantage card into the Trainline app. Note that it also supports a whole bunch of other reduction and loyalty cards, whether SNCF, Eurostar, Thalys or others.

To add a new one, here are the steps to follow:

  • Go to the home page then enter your travel information;
  • Select “passenger” and “Cards and discount codes”;
  • Select your card from the menu;
  • Enter the card number for you and your passengers.
