Espérance de Tunis kick off their CAF Champions League campaign at home, hosting Malian side Djoliba AC in Group D on Tuesday at the Hammadi Agrebi Olympic Stadium in Radès, Tunisia.
After losing last year’s final to Al-Ahly, Esperance de Tunis will no doubt be looking to start on solid footing and position themselves as serious title contenders.
“I believe all the players are ready for tomorrow’s match. However, I think the media misunderstood what I said before the last match. What I meant was that I didn’t have all the players available. Many were with their national teams, and I did not have enough time to prepare the team with everyone together,” admitted Laurențiu Reghecampf, the coach of the Tunisian team.
On the other hand, Djoliba AC, champion of Mali, remains undefeated since May in all competitions. The team led by coach Mbemba Traore recently won the Mali National Cup by beating rivals Stade Malien.

“At this level of competition, it is crucial to be in good physical condition, and we also have to adapt to the level of Esperance. In this high level of football, all these qualities are necessary. We must take up the challenge of the game of Hope,” he said.
Nationally, ES Tunis currently occupies sixth place in the championship and remains undefeated in its last four matches. This will be the first time the two teams meet in a competition. Other teams in Group D include Pyramids of Egypt and Sagrada Esperança of Angola.
