Diplomacy: the Head of State in Brussels since yesterday | www.union.sonapresse.com/fr

The President of the Republic, Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, left Libreville yesterday for Brussels, Belgium, for a working visit which should last until Thursday, November 28. The Gabonese number one is at the head of a delegation composed, among others, of several members of the government and certain members of the presidential cabinet.

In the Belgian and European capital, the head of state will have a busy agenda. In fact, several meetings are planned. Among other things, a meeting with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel. With the latter, President Oligui Nguema will address issues related to cooperation between the European Union (EU) and Gabon. This interview takes place in a context of transition in Gabon, with the recent organization of a referendum relating to the adoption of a draft new Constitution.

A vote which saw the observation of an EU mission… In the process, the Head of State will receive Ms Juta Urpilainen, Commissioner for Partnerships at the European Commission. It is planned at this level, the signing of a partnership between the EU and Gabon, in the forest sector. Just like the signing of a Letter of Intent on the financing of a railway… Another summit meeting, that with the Secretary General of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) , the Angolan Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti.

This will be an opportunity for President Oligui Nguema to address the functioning of the OACPS and especially the partnership between this organization and the European Union (EU). A meeting is also planned between President Oligui Nguema and members of the Gabonese community in the Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg).
