CAC 40: 7300 points yesterday, 7200 points this morning

European markets ended generally in the green yesterday, welcoming Wall Street records and the appointment of Scott Bessent as Secretary of the Treasury in the United States. The CAC40 for its part closed close to balance (+0.03% at 7257 points), after gaining more than 1% in the first exchanges, weighed down by Thalès (-4.25%) and Total (-2.12%).
The luxury sector, on the other hand, has regained some color. Kering gained 5.52%, STM 4.44%, Pernod Ricard 2.83% and Hermès 2.52%.

While waiting for the FOMC minutes this evening, the American indices continued their rise. The Dow Jones gained 0.99% to 44,736 points, the S&P500 0.3% to 5,987 points and the Nasdaq100 0.14%, despite the decline in Nvidia (-4.18%).

The CAC40 should nevertheless open down 0.7% this morning, after Donald Trump's announcement of a massive increase in American customs duties towards Mexico, Canada and China after his inauguration in January.

In hourly data, the heaviness persists in despite the umpteenth American records. The index remains locked within the 7131/7365 point range for the moment. We maintain a bearish bias with the lower limit in our sights.
